Who We Are
OCC Transport Inc. (OCCT) is a student-run transit organization providing free bus service to the Binghamton University community. Our mission is to provide safe, reliable, convenient, consistent, and courteous transportation for the greater Binghamton University community.
We operate 19 routes with a fleet of 21 vehicles, staffed by 75+ drivers, 3 coordinators, 2 directors, and 4 mechanics. Almost all of our drivers, dispatchers, and coordinators are Binghamton University students, making OCCT one of the largest majority student-run transit agencies in the country.
All buses are free to ride with a valid BU ID. OCCT is funded through the Student Association fee and operates under SA oversight.
History
The Off Campus College Council (OC3) purchased a used school bus from Whitney Point Central School District for $800. The bus was named "Maxwell" and painted blue — establishing the signature color carried by every OCCT vehicle since.
By 1979, the operation had expanded to five buses and multiple routes, connecting more students to off-campus housing across Vestal, Binghamton, and the surrounding area.
A formal Board of Directors was established in 1995, bringing structured governance to the growing organization while maintaining its student-run identity.
OCCT now operates 19 routes with a fleet of 21 vehicles, carrying over 10,000 passengers on weekdays. Live bus tracking is available through our partner ETA SPOT.
Leadership
OCCT is governed by a Board of Directors composed of student representatives, university staff, and operational leadership.
